Our Team

Steve earned a Juris Doctor degree at the University Of Kansas School Of Law in 1984. Prior to beginning his immigration practice, he worked as an attorney at Kansas Legal Services in Kansas City, KS representing low-income clients. He founded his immigration office in 1996 in furtherance of his commitment to social justice. All four of his grandparents came to the United States as immigrants, giving his commitment to immigration advocacy a personal dimension. He is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and admitted to practice law in the state of Kansas. Although Steve has retired from the active practice of law, he continues to provide invaluable expertise to assist our clients.

Heidi earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Kansas School of Law. She is licensed in the state of Kansas and is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. Heidi grew up in Oaxaca, Mexico and credits this background with leading to her commitment to advocacy for immigrants from around the world. She is fluent in Spanish and passionate about welcoming immigrants and their families to the United States.

Hannah was born in Northwest, Arkansas, and grew up in a large family. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Arkansas School of Law in 2014. She is licensed in the states of Kansas and Arkansas and has practiced exclusively immigration law in her career. Hannah specializes in working with victims of crimes and abuse, in addition to other practice areas. She is fluent in English and Spanish and is committed to helping clients navigate the immigration process.

Marisela has been an invaluable assistant and office manager at our law firm for over 20 years, expertly managing every aspect of our clients' cases while consistently delivering exceptional service. Originally from Chihuahua, Mexico, she is fluent in both English and Spanish, enhancing her ability to serve a diverse clientele.

Washington, a native of Quito, Ecuador, plays a crucial role in preparing client cases. Bilingual in English and Spanish, he ensures effective communication and support for all our clients.

Born in Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico, Alma is a lifelong resident of Kansas City, Kansas, and is bilingual in English and Spanish. Alma builds strong relationships with our clients. Her interpersonal skills help her best serve our clients who have experienced trauma or violence. She is dedicated to ensuring that each client receive the empathy and support that they need to achieve a successful result in their case.

Mayra, a lifelong resident of Kansas City, was born in Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico. As a dedicated paralegal, Mayra works closely with clients to ensure they feel supported and informed throughout the legal process, fostering a safe and welcoming environment. Her fluency in both English and Spanish enhances her ability to communicate effectively with a diverse clientele, further contributing to her commitment to client advocacy and service excellence.

Shadybeth was born in Sensuntepeque, Cabañas, El Salvador. Her background is in social work which helps shape her commitment to helping others. She is fluent in both Spanish and English, which enhances her ability to connect with the diverse clients we serve. As a paralegal at our law firm she assists in preparing client cases and supporting the legal team in delivering effective solutions for our clients. Shadybeth is passionate about advocating for our clients. She finds fulfillment in making a positive impact in their lives through our immigration services.
